North Carolina 26th Regiment, Company G

Pull up a stump and sit a spell. Welcome to the homesite of the Chatham Boys, 26 North Carolina Troops, Company G We are a Southern Military Unit (although based in Rochester, NY) and are dedicated to the historically accurate portrayal of the daily lives of Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. We are proud to be members of the First Division, Fourth Regiment, of the Army of Northern Virginia.

The twenty-sixth North Carolina Infantry regiment was organized at Camp Crabtree, three miles north of Raleigh during July and early August 1861. The regiment was mustered into confederate service on August 27, 1861. The unit first saw the 'elephant' at New Berne, NC and saw action up through Appromattox. At Gettysburg, the 26th North Carolina suffered losses of over 80% the highest of any regiment in a single battle during the Civil War.

Through Living History, battle reenactments, and school presentations we, the members of G company 26 North Carolina troops attempt to educate the public in the history of our Nation during the years of 1861-1865. This period was critical in forging our nation's path.
